Questions to ask before buying airport/GSE equipment

Aircraft repair and maintenance equipment is indispensable at any airport or airbase. For obvious safety reasons, it is essential to be able to maintain the aircraft that take off and land. The self-propelled platform is one of the most important MROs at an air base.
As we all know, aircraft are behemoths. As a result, they are inherently relatively complex to maintain or repair, as their various parts are so difficult to reach. This is where the lifting platform comes in. It serves as a support to reach the parts of the aircraft to be repaired or serviced. The aircraft maintenance platform provides access to wings, engines and other parts.
This makes maintenance platforms indispensable at airports and airbases.
In order to move and function properly, aircraft maintenance MRO platforms need power. The energy source depends on the type of engine the platform is equipped with. Like cars, some MRO platforms are diesel-powered, while others are electrically driven. There are also dual-energy platform engines. In most cases, it’s the customer’s application that determines the choice of engine.
For hangar use, an electric motor is the preferred choice, as it is less restrictive in terms of emissions and noise. For intensive outdoor use, a diesel version is preferable. For a mix of the two, bi-energy is particularly relevant.
A SOVAM aircraft maintenance MRO platform is distinguished by certain technical features that are important to take into account. We make it a point of honor to ensure the safety of both the aircraft and the maintenance operators.
We have also developed a whole retrofit program around our aerial work platforms, enabling us to renovate and transform old diesel equipment into electric vehicles. This enables us to meet our customers’ ecological requirements, while ensuring a longer product life cycle.
