Passenger stairs : everything you need to know
Boarding stairs are part of the basic GSE equipment of an airport or airbase. They enable passengers and aircraft personnel to get on and off
Every airport needs ground support equipment. When choosing this equipment, there are clearly defined criteria to take into account. Indeed, not all GSE equipment is created equal, and differs in many ways. Before making any purchase, it’s important to make sure that the equipment you choose is capable of providing you with a maintenance service for your GSE fleet.
When purchasing your fleet of ground support equipment for your airport or air base, you need to take a look at the services provided. Once purchased, airport equipment needs to be commissioned. Commissioning of GSE equipment is offered by some, but not all, equipment manufacturers.
Similarly, some may offer training courses that your airport staff can take on board, to enable them to maintain and manage this equipment.
In addition to the services offered at the time of purchase, the availability of after-sales service is an important criterion when purchasing GSE equipment. Airbase ground support equipment requires regular maintenance and repair services. Some equipment manufacturers offer an after-sales service, with personnel on site to carry out GSE maintenance.
It’s important to make sure that your equipment manufacturer offers such a service. Unless you have personnel qualified enough to do without it.
The repair and maintenance of ground support equipment is not the only service you may need in the long run. Indeed, deterioration of airport ground equipment is as inevitable as deterioration of any other piece of equipment. So, sooner or later, it’s time to renovate the equipment. That’s when you’ll need spare parts for a complete repair.
At SOVAM, we provide our customers with all these services. From equipment commissioning and refurbishment to regular maintenance and staff training, our range of services is designed to meet your needs.
